A dog and a coyote were walking down a dirt lane. As they were walking the coyote started to complain. Man---its tuff out here. Its hard to find food. Sometimes my den gets filled up with fleas and then I sometimes gotta walk a mile or more for a drink of water. The dog-all fat and shinny looks at the coyote and says---Hey buddy come over to my place. I gotta nice dog house that is big enough for two. Every morning I wake to a full pan of dog food and another one with clean water. There is always enough for us to share. So the two beet feet across the field. While heading to the dogs place the coyote looks over at the dog and notices something. Hey dog he says---whats that thing around your neck? Why its a collar replies the dog. Then the coyote asks---whats that for? The dog answers---well its for sometimes my master ties me up for my own good. With that the coyote stops in his tracks and says---OH no buddy. Nobody ties me up. With that the coyote makes a left turn and books it outa sight.
Back in the day we used to sit around and have a good laugh at this story. We always identified with the coyote. Since my coming to know the Love of Jesus I have come to another conclusion
By giving my freedom to Jesus I now have one who cares and provides for me. Jesus cares well for me and I am far better under His care then I was doing my own thing. Over the years I have been invited to speak at many youth groups and I like to tell this story. I always pass out little pieces of paper and take a quiz after telling this story. I ask the kids to put either a D or a C on the paper without any names. The vote tally always comes back with an overwhelming majority of C's. So now that I have spilled the beans and told the moral of the story----Which do you identify with---a D or a C?
