The term separation of church and state is greatly taken out of context as to its origination . So what did it mean from the start and how did we get here today? Back in the day when this all started religious persecution was normal. In Europe which ever christian sect that was in charge punished and even executed members of other sects. This was the motivation for much of the exodus to America. Our founding colonies each had a different sponsor. Maryland was a catholic colony. Penn was a quaker state and so on. So when our founding fathers gathered they werent going to fall into the same trap and chose not to pick one or another sect to be the official denomination of this country. The term separation of church and state was more like--separation of state and denomination . Our founding fathers were overwhelmingly christian . So with this is mind how did we get where we are today? As the years progressed the influx of world religions filterd into this country. Christianity went from many sects to one group. Non believing political leaders, trying to reduce the influence of christianity, started to advance the idea that all religions are the same and should share equal influence. So the state could take on a secular appeal and not favor one group. Thus the state being secular--any religious beliefs are not allowed in government operation . So, is it possible to live a life devoid of any religious opinion? Is not our behavior influenced by our beliefs? Can we truly vote devoid of any spiritual understanding? Can we truly make any decisions in life without our core beliefs? The fact of the matter is separation of church and state is not possible. Separation of state and denomination
is a can do effort. After all each christian sect does has some differences on little things that dont effect core beliefs like--saved by grace--salvation by the cross and so on. The thing here is to not let the forces of anti-christ divide us and reduce our say in this great country called the United States of America. United we stand divided we fall.
